Fashion Films

As I said in my previous post i am very interested in fashion films and thanks to my blogger friend "Dolls Factory" i have been watching all the videous like crazy submitted for ASVOFF.
The video called "Herr Rodebjer" in particular amazed me, it was directed by Mattias Montero for Rodebjer brand. Imagery wise it was one of the most strongest short films i have ever seen. He has an amazing imagination and super talent to recreate it in a film. I love the creepy umbrella people.

My other favorites I have posted before and i would love to share it again.
First one is Chanel comercial because of the magical world that it creates,it makes me want to live in a "Chanel world". The song - I am a fool to want you by Billie Holiday - one of my favourites, and it was filmed in Istanbul- the most beautiful city at least for me

The second one is by Muiccia Prada who is truly intellectual designer kind, only she could come up with such a beautiful perfume ad with an ancient poem that describes divine feminine nature. You can find the poem below as well which I think is a must read for every girl.

The Thunder, Perfect Mind

For I am the first and the last
I am the wife and the virgin.
I am the mother and the daughter.
I am she whose wedding is great, and I have not taken a husband.
I am the bride and the bridegroom.
I am senseless and I am wise;
Come forward to childhood, and do not despise it because it is small and it is little.
And do not turn away greatnesses in some parts from the smallnesses,
for the smallnesses are known from the greatnesses.
I am the one who is honoured and who is praised,
For I am knowledge and ignorance.
I am shame and boldness.
I am shameless; I am ashamed.
I am control and the uncontrollable.
For I am strength and I am fear
I am war and peace
I am the substance and the one who has no substance.
But I, I am compassionate and I am cruel.
Do not hate my obedience
And do not love my self-control.
I am the union and the dissolution.
But I am she who exists in all fearsand strength in trembling.
And I am an alien and a citizen.
I am the silence that is incomprehensible
and the idea whose remembrance is frequent.
I am the voice whose sound is manifold
For I am the first and the last.

Great song - "Soulmate," Natasha Bedingfield

"Soulmate"

Incompatible, it don't matter though
'cos someone's bound to hear my cry
Speak out if you do
You're not easy to find

Is it possible Mr. Loveable
Is already in my life?
Right in front of me
Or maybe you're in disguise

Who doesn't long for someone to hold
Who knows how to love you without being told
Somebody tell me why I'm on my own
If there's a soulmate for everyone

Here we are again, circles never end
How do I find the perfect fit
There's enough for everyone
But I'm still waiting in line

Who doesn't long for someone to hold
Who knows how to love you without being told
Somebody tell me why I'm on my own
If there's a soulmate for everyone

If there's a soulmate for everyone

Most relationships seem so transitory
They're all good but not the permanent one

Who doesn't long for someone to hold
Who knows how to love you without being told
Somebody tell me why I'm on my own
If there's a soulmate for everyone

Who doesn't long for someone to hold
Who knows how to love you without being told
Somebody tell me why I'm on my own
If there's a soulmate for everyone
If there's a soulmate for everyone

Muiccia Prada truly intellectual designer kind, only she could come up with such a beautiful perfume ad with an ancient poem that describes divine feminine nature. I can’t describe how beautiful is it!

“Deluxe: How Luxury Lost Its Luster” by Dana Thomas

I love books, just the whole experience of reading books. Well apart from classics I really enjoy reading about one of my favorite topic - Fashion. Next book I cant wait to get my hands on is “Deluxe: How Luxury Lost Its Luster” by Dana Thomas. This book gives us:
"some sharply observed profiles of figures like Miuccia Prada, who was a Communist with a doctorate in political science when she took over her family’s small luxury goods business in 1978, and the business tycoon Bernard Arnault, who relentlessly built LVMH into a luxury monolith with dozens of brands (including Louis Vuitton, Givenchy and Dior) sold around the world. But the focus remains on how a business that once catered to the wealthy elite has gone mass-market and the effects that democratization has had on the way ordinary people shop today, as conspicuous consumption and wretched excess have spread around the world. Labels, once discreetly stitched into couture clothes, have become logos adorning everything from baseball hats to supersized gold chains. Although this volume quotes Anna Wintour, the editor of Vogue, saying such changes mean that “more people are going to get better fashion” and “the more people who can have fashion, the better,” the author reaches a more elitist and pessimistic conclusion. “The luxury industry has changed the way people dress,” she writes. “It has realigned our economic class system. It has changed the way we interact with others. It has become part of our social fabric. To achieve this, it has sacrificed its integrity, undermined its products, tarnished its history and hoodwinked its consumers. In order to make luxury ‘accessible,’ tycoons have stripped away all that has made it special.

“Luxury has lost its luster.”

Taylor Tomasi Wedding

Just Beautiful! Her dress is by J. Mendel, shoes by Alexander McQueen, I would never imagine greyish dress for a wedding but she just looks gorgeous.

Taylor Tomasi Hill's Interview

Inside Style Star Taylor Tomasi Hill's Chic NYC Pad

By: Connie Wang & Piera Gelardi | Photos by: Kava Gorna

A flash of red, the jangle of bracelets, and a flurry of blinding camera flashes later, and you've just experienced another run-in with Taylor Tomasi Hill. The Marie Claire editor is creating a mini sensation in the blogosphere, and her street style snaps single-handedly made Gap puffer vests and delicate lace skirts the must-have items last season. Of course, we were more than psyched when Taylor opened the doors to her West Village apartment so we could gush over her equally chic pad filled with covetable goodies—fashion-related and otherwise. Read our Q&A and have a peek at our gorgeous pics below, which might reveal some secrets to looking like a bona-fide fashion goddess.

Describe your style:
"I'm kind of a clothing chameleon. My style is something that's always evolving."

What are your five key wardrobe pieces, things you wear constantly?
1. "Burberry trench coats, a great classic staple for fall or spring."
2. "Madewell destroyed boyfriend jeans, I dress them up with my YSL heels for the office, or down with sneakers for traveling."
3. "Punkrose leopard print sneakers, my go-to for days when my feet can't take anything over .5 inches."
4. "Chanel bag, I just got a large 2.55 after years of lusting after it. This one is the perfect carryall. My other tiny Chanel bags were always exploding with all the stuff I would try to pack in them."
5. "My Rick Owens leather jacket, I can mix it with anything for an edgier effect. They are so expensive, but I stay on their radar and email list to make sure I'm always there for the sales."

Do you find anyone particularly inspiring, living or dead, from a fashion/style perspective?
"Sarah Rutson. She has an incredible taste level and innate way of putting herself together. She is always the perfect blend of chic and cool and I love the effortlessness of her look."

Do you have any particular dressing philosophies or strategies?
"I try to stay true to myself as much as possible. I love to mix and match pieces from stores like J.Crew and Topshop with my runway favorites like Proenza Schouler, Ann Demeulemeester, and Phillip Lim. Also being comfortable is a huge part of getting dressed, because I spend a ton of time running around the city from appointments, to meetings, and in and out of the office. Anything too tight, short, or high just doesn't work with my lifestyle. I also feel like I have to be practical. I go to Fashion Week in every city and packing for a 27-day marathon can be pretty challenging. Basics save my life!"

Your hair is such a signature so we have to ask, where do you get it done?
"My salon is my best kept secret!! I have to protect it. It's uptown on the east side, so I never see any other editors there, but they are the best at getting my color just right. It's so hard to maintain red hair, so I can't trust just anyone."

What wouldn't you be caught dead wearing?
"I am really un-fussy. I don't think I could ever wear a full look. Low-heeled old-lady pumps haunt my nightmares."

What's on your spring wish list accessories wise?
"I love the studded booties that Christian Louboutin did for Phillip Lim. I still haven't been able to get my hands on those! Givenchy also did an amazing shagreen bag that I can't get enough of. Also, one of my favorite New York shoe brands Zigi did some great leopard print high-tops."

What's your favorite mass store?
"Zara. Some of my favorite things in my closet have come from Zara. Their price point is unbeatable, and they have a great way of interpreting trends that's a good medium between taste and quality."

Tell us about your home...any funny anecdotes?
"I've been living in my West Village apartment for the past seven years. It's cozy, but I sometimes feel bad for my husband. My clothing takes up the entire closet and any other spare area in the house. During Fashion Week, our little area that we call the garage in our kitchen, is a makeshift dressing room. The only place I don't keep clothes or shoes is in the fridge."

What are your favorite places to hang in your hood?
1. "Doma for morning coffee."
2. "La Carbonara for take-out after late nights at the office."
3. "Tom Binns' store for browsing and inspiration."
4. "Geminola for feminine vintage finds."
5. "Wilfie and Nell to feed my shepherd's pie addiction and for a few beers with friends or my husband."

What song best describes your personal style?
"'You Shook Me All Night Long' by AC/DC."

Ranunculus - one of my favorite flowers

I love these flowers, they are so soft and elegant at the same time. But I can never remember the name - Ranunculus. Apparently it comes from Latin and means little frog. I have no idea why would somebody name them like that.

My favorite Sex & the City moment!

I am a huge Sex and the city fan! Whenever I am sad or not feeling well I love to crawl into my bed with cup of tea and my favorite piece of Vanilla Temptation Cake and watch entire season :).It really makes me happy. Even though I think I am more of a Charlotte person, but I have a big connection to Carry as I think every fan of Sex and The city.I really admire her free spirit, being a good friend, not being afraid to love and express her true feelings, her great style, confidence. Well and we share the love for shoes :)

Flowers in Dubai

I think we can say goodbye to summer in Dubai and welcome spring. I was bored today which is Friday afternoon, took a walk around my tiny garden which became so magical with all the flowers that bloomed.
