Something beautiful never goes out of fashion

I believe the best pieces in my wardrobe are the ones I have from my mother and my grandmother. In this picture I am wearing a skirt which my mother used to wear when she was my age, how amazing is that, it is just a proof that something beautiful never goes out of fashion. My inspiration for this look is 50s/60s style.

Nobody captivated the world like Marilyn Monroe...

As i blogged couple of month ago, I am dying to read the magazine named "Industrie" which is as their website states "the first and only media title dedicated to presenting an independent, in-depth look at the fashion industry, going behind the scenes to chronicle the personalities, stories and defining moments in the world of fashion.Industrie aims to shift focus away from current collections and trends and provide a considered insight into the culture of fashion. Industrie documents the individuals who influence fashion and critically examines the ideas which shape it."

I really like the concept of the magazine because when it comes to fashion I am more interested in "intelectual" side of it meaning the process of creating something beautiful, the inspiration behind it, the input of the team, photographer, stylist, make up artist, and the business side of it as well. As you can see from the youtube video they have interviews featured with some of the if not top of the leading people in fashion industrie. I am really excited about the interview with Natalie Massenet the creator of Net-a-porter. I mean the woman created an enterprise with an annual turnover of GBP120 million, how can you not listen to her?

But unfortunatly couldnt find it in Dubai :( so I guess I just have to order it online.

Fashion Films

As I said in my previous post i am very interested in fashion films and thanks to my blogger friend "Dolls Factory" i have been watching all the videous like crazy submitted for ASVOFF.
The video called "Herr Rodebjer" in particular amazed me, it was directed by Mattias Montero for Rodebjer brand. Imagery wise it was one of the most strongest short films i have ever seen. He has an amazing imagination and super talent to recreate it in a film. I love the creepy umbrella people.



My other favorites I have posted before and i would love to share it again.
First one is Chanel comercial because of the magical world that it creates,it makes me want to live in a "Chanel world". The song - I am a fool to want you by Billie Holiday - one of my favourites, and it was filmed in Istanbul- the most beautiful city at least for me



The second one is by Muiccia Prada who is truly intellectual designer kind, only she could come up with such a beautiful perfume ad with an ancient poem that describes divine feminine nature. You can find the poem below as well which I think is a must read for every girl.

Rodarte Video Ad

Recently I am very into fashion film ads. I didnt like Rodarte sisters previous video ad campaign but this one I love so much better imagery and soundtrack is great. Its called SOLILOQUY 88, I really had no idea what that means so I looked it up apparently it is a Radium, a white radioactive metal with the atomic number 88, if it is exposed to oxygen it turns black. I think only Rodarte sisters with their truly unique collection can come up with such a name to relate to their collection. Doesnt this prove that inspiration for fashion is everywhere?
